Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Is there a law in CA on how long a trustee of a will has to distribute property to the heirs? It has been four years since my Aunt died and still has not been settled.

Have you received annual accounting's? Have you requested any accounting's? You should ask the Trustee or the Trustee's attorney for information regarding the Trust's status. Sometimes there are IRS issues that can delay settling the Trust and, if so, perhaps it would be possible for the Trustee to make a preliminary distribution. You need to get information from the Trustee to know if you need to take action, such as a Petition for Instructions or a Petition to Remove a Trustee (if wrongdoing has occurred).
