Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Lawyer for Aunt's Estate Won't Unresponsive and Rude
My husband's aunt died last year in California. She left bequests to many of her nieces and nephews, as she was childless. The problem-We were told the will would be settled, and payments made in February. When we call the lawyer in California, he is curt, rude and utterly unconcerned about our worries. Several of the will's benefactors have large medical bills to pay due to accidents and illness. When last we spoke to him, he told us he would ''probably be filing for the final ditstribution of the estate'' sometime in the next two months. Then, he hung up on us. Should we be concerned ? Is this normal behavior ? We've only called him twice in the last nine months with our questions. What, if anything, can we do ?

Who is the executor of the will? That is the person who can hire or fire the lawyer, and who is generally responsible for making sure everything is done. You need to find this out first before we can determine what can be done.
