Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Lawyer responsibilities, fees and charges

What are the lawyers responsibilities from beginning to end of probate and what is their compensation? I understand there are statutory fees (fees set by the State of Calif based on the percentage of the estate?). What services would be considered ''ordinary'' for an attorney to perform in completing the probate process? Thank you.

Re: Lawyer responsibilities, fees and charges

Work done (minus court filing fee, probate referee fee and publishing notice costs) by the attorney is generally covered under the statutory maximum fee. Examples of "extraordinary expenses" billed at an hourly rate are work related to selling real estate and defending will contests.
