If someone is left money in a group of four and that person dies can they leave money which they have not yet received to their friend or is the sum of what is left divided between the remaining three people?

It depends what the original decedent's will or trust says, but generally, if the beneficiary survives the decedent by 30 days, the bequest will be part of his estate.
