Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Length of time before disbursement

How long can a lawyer keep my inheritance from me? Mom died over a year ago, I know that the money can be available and now I am getting little response from the lawyer.

I agree with Mr. Bravos, it can take a while and you do not indicate where the probate is occurring, in CA or WA.

You may get some action by writing to the attorney and pointing out what you said here.

It's been a year, you don't understand why it is taking so long, and you need copies of the pleadings so you can review what has been happening. In WA these documents are public record and you can go to the courthouse, to the clerk's office and get copies or just read the file.

Hope this helps.

It may take that long to get all the taxes paid for a final order for distribution.
