Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Life Insurance

Hi Alle Thank you for your great web-site and sharing your wisdom. I am an entertainment lawyer and trying to be a spiritual lawyer as well - you seem to be living that path and I thank you for the example. I have two questions for you 1.) Is it all right for me to list my POD, retirement accounts and insurance policies in my will even thought they do not have to go through probate - I just want everything in one document for my executor. 2) What was the things that most helped you to be on this path of service and being a healing force in your career. Thanks for any information you can share with me. Peace, Jill

Re: Life Insurance

You can list the items in your will, and also be aware that if they do not have beneficiaries named (with the life insurance company, for example), the will would likely control disposition. In any case, like you mention, the information would be helpful for your executor.

As for service, I'd just recommend looking over the many volunteer opportunities in the law and trying a few that interest you--there are plenty that you will like, and they will also sharpen your lawyer skills and may even lead to clients. Even so, you'll be giving up your time and paying clients' time, so find something you like doing and that will lead to the personal/spiritual growth you're seeking.
