Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Hi. I live in California and my good friend recently passed away. The family doesn't want anything to do with his belongings or his small estate. There is no property only an older car. The closest living relative is his sister and she has already put me in charge of the cremation and disbursing the ashes. My question is what do I need to do next?

The sister will send me any documentation I need . What do I have her send me? Do I file it with someone? etc...
