Living Trust Question about possesion 4 months after probate

I took posession of a diamond ring after my step mother passed away in July 1999 when we cleaned out her house. She had a living trust that stated my two sisters and I would divide everything equally. We went through probate court in early December and divided her assets. No problem. Now a faraway relative we didn't know about has appeared and wants the ring back. She claims it is hers and that my step mother was only keeping it for her. Am I obligated to return it 4 months after we dispersed the estate? There was no mention of this in the will.

it is unclear why there was a probate if there was a trust but if there was a probate she would have to make her claim there. More facts are needed to fully answer your question but i wouldnt hand over the ring to her based on that unlikely story.
