loan from trust

i am a beneficary on a trust. i received a loan from the trust in 1998. my last payment was in 2000. after the orginator of the trust was ruled incompetent in 2003, i was told verbally that this loan was forgiven by the new trustees. now these same trustees are threatening me saying i will have to repayment this loan if i proceed in getting an accounting of the financial working of the trust.
