Lost or missing bonds and stock certifcates

i would like to know if there is a way to find missing or lost saving bonds, or any stock certificates?

With stock certificates if you know the companies in which they were invested, in the right to the companies and see if they have those particular individuals named as stockholders. He would look back also on tax returns to see if they gave out any dividends and sends 1099 forms. If the people had a stockbroker in that would help also as the broker may have records. As to savings bonds basically those seem to be lost cause. There are no master lists with master numbers that I know of.
