Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Mom dies while incarcerated

My ex-husband is currently in county jail fighting a case and his mom passed away a few days ago, they will not let him attend her services...even worse his brothers and sisters are angry with him and already leaving him out. He is not guilty but cannot afford to bail out, his mom had a will and he has several things that she wants him to have as well as safety deposit boxes they both went to put his stuff in. Can an attorney help him while incarcerated or should I get power of attorny to make sure that he gets what his mother wanted him to have? Help fast please!!
