Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My mom passed away 11/27/2014. There was a Trust. I did not know until long after that you are suppose to submit a death certificate to the Department of Health Care Services in California within 90 days of the date of death. I realized this in 2016. Last week I received a form letter from DHCS regarding the Medi-cal Estate Recovery Program. I wasn't the only one to receive one of these letters, so it wasn't directed to me. I know that my mom never was on Medi-cal. Now that it's been so long should I send a copy of the death certificate or not worry about it. Thanks Kendra

If your mother wasn't on Medi-Cal, I wouldn't worry about it.
