Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

my mom remarried. they have been married for 32 years. step dad has no children. i was in 3rd grade

when they married. my mom died dec 24th 2009. i was told she had no will. but she did have a trust.

i was still not told anything, like i was forgotten. my mom was a house wife the entire marriage. step dad was bread winner. do i have rights to inherit from my mom. they are upper middle class. i was not even in her obituary. step dad wont talk to me for some reason. my aunt (moms sister) got some of her things. i did not get anything. i dont understand.

Tell your step dad that you need to speak to him. Find out why he will not speak to you. All of the earnings from both of them during the marriage are pooled togehter as community property. So half the assets are your mother's and she could have put that portion into a trust; there would be a trustee named to handle the trust and who would have to notify all the people entitled to get anything from the trust.
