Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Mom's live-in boyfriend? How will it affect the will?

My mom has had a live-in boyfriend for the past 2 years. She has named me (her daughter) executor of the will. If she is to die before her boyfriend, how will this live-in situation affect the outcome of the estate distribution. I have 3 sisters who will be splitting the estate.

It will probably not affect the estate at all, unless your mother has included him in a new will or trust, or named him as a beneficiary of life insurance, retirement plans, accounts, etc.

Unmarried partners do not have any inheritance rights, and California does not recognize "common law" marriage.
