Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Mother died and left a will naming two brothers as executors One brother has retrained a lawyer asking to be the executor. He has not consulted the other brother. The other brother wants to file a petition for the position of executor, with a different lawyer. How could this possibly play out?

Absent something extraordinary (lack of fitness to serve, fraud in the making of the will, etc.), the court will almost certainly follow the will and appoint the executor(s) as the will states.
