Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My mother left her estate in trust for my son 15 years ago, when he was 7. Both the successor trustee and the alternate successor trustee have both died. I just found out they died 7 months ago. Nothing has been paid since December. No one was named to handle to the trust after the alternate successor trustee. He is now almost 23 and in the military and he does not know what we need to do. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

You need to take a copy of the Trust documents to an attorney for a review and adfice on how best to proceed.
What needs to be done next depends on what the Trust says regarding a non-named successor Trustee. Likely, either your son or you will need to file a petition to nominate a successor trustee with the local court. Once the Successor Trustee is appointed, that person can administer the estate until it is time to distribute the estate to your son.
