We recently were told that the distribution was ready and to come to attorneys office to pick up the check and when we did th check Was no where near the amount stated in the trust. Can they do that, just change th amount like that without saying anything and without putting anything in writing? Please help and let me know what to do. Thankyou and my email is [email protected]

You should be provided an accounting, indicating the distribution of funds.
Correct, as a beneficiary you are entitled to a full accounting of where monies were spent and how the final number was calculated.
Both counsel are correct, and you may want to consult probate litigation counsel to assist you in a written demand for an accounting, and if no response within a reasonable time or an inadequate response, then counsel can file a petition in probate court for an accounting of trust assets, income, expenses, fees charged by the trustee, fees to be charged by the attorney, and proposed division of the proceeds.
