Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My mother passed away last month. I am the executer of her trust. How do I get a document saying I have power of attorney in order to cash a check made out to her estate?

You need to read some books on how to handle probate, estates, and trusts. Nolo Press has several very good ones.
An executor is for a Will with a Trustee being for a Trust. Powers of attorney only are valid while the person is alive.
