Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
my mother passed away and there are stocks with dividends still in her name. Is there a way to accquire or have these stocks reissued into into someone elses name. There are five siblings so what is the legal procedure to handle the stocks?My mother left no will and we are not sure if there is a benificiary listed

depends on the value. If total estate is less than $150,000, you should be able to have the stocks transferred to you and your siblings with a small estate affidavit (probate code section 13100.) If more, one of you will have to file a petition for probate. the easiest way is to hire an attorney to take care of the paperwork.
