Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My mother's living trust trustee (my sister) has stolen most of her mone ($700,000) and now she is selling her house. I am just learning this and I live in another state and I cannot get to California. She is current addicted to Meth (IV). my mother is not aware of this and/or has slight dementia. I have called the police to go to her home regarding these matter and they claim that they cannot intervene or help. They say, "it is a civil matter." Isn't thief a crime? I cannot hire an attorney or get anyone to respond. Even if I were to contact someone who claim they can help, really what can they do? Further, what on earth can I do to get this person away from my mother? I m afraid that before anyone decides to do anything, even her home will be gone. I need some serious help here. Thanks

If what you suspect is true, this is elder abuse, which is a crime. If the police won't intervene, try Adult Protective Services.

Most district attorneys offices have Elder Abuse units. Contact the DA in the county in which your mother lives.
