Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I am named as the executor in my parents will...am I personally responsible for any of the estate's debts?

No. The executor actually has very little power if the estae is probated, as the court wil appoint an administrator who handles the estate. If there is no opposition, the executor often is named administrator. Neither has any liability as to the estate debts, but if you do somethling incorrectly you could create liability.
