Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Non-Relative Benaficiary

My dad died suddenly of lung cancer in August 1998, with no will, etc... have just received copies of his mail from his live-in girlfriend of 13 yrs. He has an IRA fund with about $50,000... She is listed as beneficiary..then my dad's two brothers. May father has 4 adult surviving children, do we have any claim to this IRA? He has no other property except a 5 year old car and a checking account with $15,000, which I have already received from bank and will use to pay his small outstanding debts. Girl Friend claims to know nothing about his finances, etc., which is why she finally sent me his mail she had been saving at her house, unopened.
