Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Original living trust documents stolen

Our home was recently burglarized including a container with the original will of trust documents. We still have a copy of the documents however, what should we do when we attempt to prove that the trust is valid, if we don't have the original documents?

Re: Original living trust documents stolen

I would contact the attorney who prepared your original documents and have them restated. You may want to re-execute your wills as well. This way you will have a new set of originals. If it has been a long time since your will and trust were prepared, it might be a good idea to get them either redrafted or restated to incorporate recent changes in the law.

I hope this helps.
