Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Ok, so my parents bought a house in fresno four years ago. Prior to that they have a house in San Jose and they put me on the will on their house. Last year, my mother had a stroke and was diagnosed with dementia. My father, changed the will to give equal shares to my brothers and sister and their husbands and their wives to their assets. What course do I take.

I would have to have more details as to the Will. You father would not have the authority to change your Mother's Will. So if the house was community property your mother's Will would govern what happens to her half of the house. You need to consult an estate attorney to review all the documents and other necessary facts.

I am not sure it is wise to give anything to husbands and wives outright. This could create unintended legal issues during a divorce. As Mr. Shers suggested, your father should consult an attorney.

I agree with Ms. Cusack. Inheritance is a privelege, not a right. Your parents can disinherit you if they want.
