Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

How Would parents go about cashing a check that was made out to their now deceased daughter from an indian settlement? Their daughter was never married nor did she ever have any kids.

If she did not have a Will, you are her legal heirs. Technically, if the check is for over $150,000, you must open a probate estate, and if it is less that that, you should submit a small estate affidavit to the issuer of the check and ask them to re-issue it to you.
