Petition for Final Distribution - I'm Stuck

I'm the Executor of my mother's small estate, under the independent admin act. House sold - money was distributed three ways (3 sisters) All that is left is estate checking account, which is also the residual money in her will. I want to distribute that money 1/3 as well, and file Petition for Final Distrib.I get confused about that. Do I show a zero balance? Is the amount left in estate acct a disbursement to them or distribution? Receipts say ''property''. I don't know the order of what to file. My husband says we can distribute the money now, and show in the final accounting all distributions with receipts, and everything else. Please help.

No, the money can't be distributed without a court order, which is what you should get when you file the final petition. You and the beneficiaries can waive the final accounting, but you still have to give a final report and ask for distribution from the court, in the appropriate format.
