Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
As a power of attorney for my mother what is my responsibilty after my mother passed away? There is a will that is being executed with a question to return items that might or might not have been in the home. There is also a reverse mortgage and now the house is being returned to the reverse mortgage.
What do I do as the power of attorney? Or is my responsiblity over?

Your responsibilities as attorney-in-fact have ended upon your mother's death. You should turn over any property of your mother's you still hold as attorney-in-fact to the executor.
You (or a sibling) will now need to start a Probate to account and settle her estate. I concur that your responsibilities as attorney-in-fact are terminated as there is noone for you to execute those powers over. I suggest you now contact a local estate planning attorney to discuss the next step(s).
