Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Probate

My father passed away few months ago, he had few credit cards, which were opened by him.

I've send certificate of death to the bank, they of course transferred these cards to collection.

Now, given the lack of substance to the estate, there are no assets except the house and my mom is still paying mortgage on it. Will collectors pursue this matter further than some letters and phone calls? What should I anticipate and how to deal with it?

Thank you.

Re: Probate

Yes. But the liability is the estate's and possibly your mom's if the charges are for necessities of life.
