Is probate needed?

My father was a Musican. He only has royalities which in the Will stated that to distribute them equally. I am the executor. Is probate needed?

Re: Is probate needed?

In general, estates under the value of $100,000 do not have to be probated. For the foreseeable future, how much in money will the royalities bring in? If less than $100,000, no probate required. Read through a self help book , such as from Nolo Press, to see if you can handle the estate assets yourself. Remember, the one thing most heirs can agree on, is that the executor is not doing a good job.
