Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Probate Process
My father passed away roughly a month and a half ago. Unfortunately, he left no will. I am his only son and he was an unmarried man. I filed the petition for probate and requested to be administrator. I was told that the administrator position would be approved as soon as the bonding process was approved. It has been two weeks and no word. Is this normal?

Re: Probate Process
If the value of the estate was less than $100,000 you could adminster the estate outside of probate. The probate process takes time, and two weeks is not abnormal. You should call the bonding company on Monday and aks them what is going on.
