public records after death
My aunt passed away, and left stocks. How can I get information on this? Are the banking records public after death? If the policy is no longer in her name and have been transferred to another holder, can I get past information on her account?

Check at the court in the county in which your aunt resided at the time of her death to see if a probate has been filed. The personal representative of the estate must account to the court for your aunts property, any will, and ultimately disposition of the estate. If there is no probate, you can apply yourself for letters of administration and then use the power of the court to access her records and locate her assets.
