Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Reading of the Will

Is there a deadline on how long after someone passes away, the will has to be read and explained to anyone who is in the will. Is there a way someone who thinks they are in the will can get a copy.

Re: Reading of the Will

No. If you are interested in the estate you can petition the court to open a probate and use the power of the court to ascertain if there is a will and if so probate it. If there is no will, any property in the name of the decedent will be distributed in as per the laws of intestacy.

The estate will pay the legal fees, which are regulated by statute.
