Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I received a letter from my grandmothers trust attorney telling me he found her of sound mind and requesting I return documents of my grandmother to him. I sent him a three page letter asking some questions (such as do I still have power of attorniey on the following matters) and explaining the situation which made my grandmother call him. I have not received a response and found out today he gave the letter to my grandmother unopened. Does he not have responsibility to read the letter, especially since a doctor has not deemed my grandmother incomptent or comptent as she will not go for testing.

The question that needs to be answered here is does the attorney still represent your grandmother? Either way, you should get some probate legal counsel to represent you and have your counsel direct a letter to the attorney and also to your grandmother. Once that has been determined, you should have your attorney direct the set of questions to her or attorney as to whether you are sitll the designated agent under a power of attorney, and the reason you are being asked to return the unspecified documents. Also, you may want to ask the attorney about a possible conservatorship for your grandmother as to her person and estate, as she beginning to suffer some form of dementia, and will need someone to handlwe her affairs.
