When receiving an inheritance must you give the executor your social security number?

If the distribution would result in any tax consequence [money given to you earned some interest before the distribution, etc.], then definitely yes. If not, the administrator of the Will would probably say it is necessary to identify you. Since I doubt the IRS shares information with the INS or other branches of the government and numerous companies require you to give your social security number, why are you reluctant to do so?
