remove ashes from grave?

step mother in laws children had her ashes put in plot with our father. we were not advised but it was fine at the time. it has been discovered that mother in law did some horrible things and we wish to have her ashes removed from father's grave. do we have any rights? how would this be done?

they would have needed your consent to put ashes with your father. unless of course step-mother purchased the lot.
