Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
What happens when I've been renting a condo and I have no lease and then the own
I have been living in a condo as a tenant for 18 months. After the first year that my lease expired I had no new lease given to me or renewed but just continued to live there and always pay my rent on time. I just got a call from the rental company saying that there would be an appraiser coming out to appraise the property. The appraiser called me to set the appointment and when I asked him for any additional info like would I have to move he said he couldn't tell me anything.
What are my rights as a tenant? Will I be evicted?

After your lease expired, it automatically converted to a month-to-month tenancy. The landlord can amend the lease or increase the rent any time by giving 30 days notice one the original lease term expires. I see that you live in Carlsbad and I am not aware of any local rent control laws the might apply to you.
Your best bet is to contact the rental company and see if you can get a new lease. That is the only way protect yourself. Without a lease, they can give you a 30-day notice and ask you to move.
The appraiser could have been there several reasons. The owner might be refinancing or getting ready to sell. Call the management company and find out.
