residency requirements for an executor of a will executed in California

is there a residency requirement for the executor of a will executed in the state of california? someone has told my parents that the executor of a will in california must be a california resident.

there is nothing that prohibits asomeone living out of state from being the executor. They will be required to post a bond.

An Executor can be anywhere but if the Executor is out of state a bond will be required to be posted (even if the will says no bond required). This is no big deal and your attorney can easily get the out of state Executor a bond. Good luck!
