Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Revocable Living Trust

I thought about doing it myself, but decided against it. Can you tell me what the going rate is for a revocable living trust, I'm single with a couple of kids and one piece a property to go to the trust.

There is not a set rate at most firms as it depends on exactly what you want done. However, generally speaking if I am doing a trust and related documents for a single person with one piece of real estate the legal fees will be $1,200. We also charge the recording fee for the deed which is about $10-15 depending on your county. The only reason our fees would be more than $1,200 is if there are complications beyond the norm. This fee includes the trust, will, poa financial affairs, poa health care (aka: "living will"), deed preparation, general transfer, certified extract of trust, and bank letters.

As Mr. Palley stated, there is no set price for estate planning. I do not want to start quoting prices online for various reasons, but I can concur that the price Mr. Palley stated is around the going rate in Sacramento, you can expect to be paying that or a little bit more.

My firm, along with a couple other firms in town, put on seminars to educate individuals about estate planning, trusts, and what is involved. I suggest you take one of the local workshops before making your decision.
