Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Hello,
I would like to set up a revocable living trust or simple trust and was wondering how much it would cost? Also would I actually need one if my assets are under $50k and the only property I have is a mobile home with my husband and life insurance which will exceed well over $100k, but we have children and just want to make sure things don't go into probate court if god forbid we should pass. Or going to the bank and getting a "payable on death" under our children name with my bank will suffice? Thank you!

It sounds like you can cover everything without the cost of a trust. If the mobile home is held jointly with right of surviorship, you put pay on death instructions on your cash and cash equivalent accounts (such as CD's), and your insurance beneficiaries are kept up to date, you should be fine unless you have other assets you haven't mentioned. The key is to make sure everything passes on death. If you leave anything out, you will leave it tied up when you die.
