Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
settleing the will
my mother-in-law died. She had sold her home, which was paid for, and bought a home with her daughter. My husband is to recieve half of his mom's share of the house. My sister-in-law says she can't find the will. An attorney has a copy, but it supposedly, an unsigned copy. My mother-in-law also had a lot of antiques and jewelry. What are our options? My sister-in-law is in no hurry...She won't be getting any cash, her share is in the house. She would have to take out a loane or sell the house.. I don't know if she could get a loan for the amount she would need...and I know she doesn't want to saell. What are our options?
