Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Settling an estate - do I really need an attorney?

So far, I've had no problem gaining control over my parents trust accounts as I am the trustee and executor on the estate. I assume an adviser would be helpful in interpreting the tax savings design of the trusts in order to correctly follow their instructions of how they're to be distributed. Can I interpret and follow the trust instructions on my own? If it's recommended that I get professional help, do I need an attorney or can an estate accountant (the one who would do the 706) advise me on this? For what else might I need an attorney that the estate accountant can't do or advise me on?

Thanks for your anticipated help.
