Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My sister and her husband both died in an accident and I was named executor of my sisters estate. My sister had an outdated will, her husband died without a will and for what its worth, I am not mentioned in my sisters will as a beneficiary. Recently the attorney representing the estate quit and I have not been able to hire another one due to a lack of cash currency within my sister's estate and a conflict of interest within the only litigating estate firm in the county. My brother-in-laws son was appointed by the court to be his executor has refused to endorse any checks in order to pay off outstanding bills and has not been forthcoming about pension and things he removed from their house. I am overwhelmed by the piling bills and dont know what my options are without an attorney.

If you are in California, you should not need upfront cash for the attorney. But if the estate is insolvent, no one is going to want to represent you.
