Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My sister past away recently and has unpaid medical bills . I am her sister . Can we be sued if we do not pay these bills. She has no assigned excutor of estate and has no money held in a estate.

Notify the medical providers that she died [give them copy of death certificate] and left no assets. Only her estate could be sued, not you. They will just write off the bill as uncollectable.

Your sister's estate is responsible for any bills that were unpaid when she died. If you are not the executor of her estate you do not have an obligation to do anything, even to contact her creditor's about her death.
