Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My sister's husband had a heart attack and passed away last week. They live in Alaska. He had no will or trust. They also own a vacation home in California and only his name is on the Title Insurance. They have no children. How can she change title to her....it is as easy as sending the Title insurance company a copy of the death certificate?

Unfortunately not if in fact the actual title (not just the title insurance) to the California vacation home is only in the name of the husband. If this is the case a probate of the CA vacation home must be done in CA since real estate must always be probated in the state in which it is located.
