Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Spousal Property Transfer Orders

I filed a petition for a spousal property transfer order. My registered domestic partner left everything to me in his will. I qualify as a small estate and shouldn't have to go through probate, since the estate is worth less than $100,000. The will is specific that I inherit everything and only if I was to have died before him or with him would his estate be distributed to his sisters. Yet when I went to court the judge said the will contained distributions and ordered me to go through probate. I do not believe he read the whole will. How should I proceed?
