Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

out of state guardian

For an elderly woman in California, can her guardian (appointed in California) continue to act as guardian once he moves out of state? Can he appointed out of state to act as an in-state resident's guardian?

Thanks.

Re: out of state guardian

Generally no as to guardian and possibly as to conservator. If this is a complete guardianship, then courts want guardian to be local. The out of state court has no jurisdiction over the elderly lady, and I doubt can appoint a resident of that state as a guardian of a ward in this state.
