Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

stocks and bonds

About 2 years ago, i recieved a document from Chase-Manhattan bank of Dallas,Texas. It was addressed to meas'' Dear Bondholder''.It contained a questionare asking me my s.s.#, address, and if my fathers' name was Leon--name removed-- My father died in 1973 while working at Texas Instruments in Dallas and had banked at (you guessed it) Chase Manhattan. Is it possible I might have stocks, bonds and possibly funds that have been resting there since 1973 ? My mom and dad were divorced at the time of his death, leaving me closest living relative. What is also strange, I never recieved anything but the questionare, which I filled out and sent back.I have written and e-mailed a dozen times, only to be ignored. Thank you for any help you may give me.

Re: stocks and bonds

It's certainly possible, and worth following up--you may also want to check Texas' unclaimed property database (start at www.unclaimed.org).

Keep your letters as proof of trying to contact them, and keep writing, but I'd also try calling them as well--it's a frustrating process, but you (or an attorney) can eventually track down the right person/department to talk with to get an answer.
