sudden death

no will, husband died suddenly, can wife sign his name

I am very sorry, but the answer is "no". If you need immediate access to your husband's accounts, you can petition to be appointed "special administrator" of his estate. You will also need to petition to be appointed the "regular" administrator.

No. Wife can open probate and get the authority to sign on husband's behalf. She doesn't need a will to open probate.
