Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
How do I go about taking my stepmother to court as she has mismanaged my fathers estate and failed to notify rightful heirs to his estate. She let the house go into foreclosure while she was renting it out and collecting monthly, she says she remarried him the night before he had brain surgery which I cannot find any record of that occurring. She has admitted to giving him an overdose of Morphine as he had cancer, she had his SGLI life insurance put solely into her name and is now collecting a monthly allotment from the government as my father was Active National Guard at the time of his death. She refuses to give any personal items to me as she has totally disregarded me as his son. I am a disabled Veteran who lives in California and she is in Oregon. The estate total is about 800,000.00 I really need help and don't know where to turn for it. Please, is there anyone out there that can help me?
1 Answer from Attorneys
You are advised to obtain the services of a probate litigation attorney to sort through these facts and to make the appropriate legal recommendations; you should be able to find an attorney who will take your matter on a percentage basis, with you advancing costs. Do not accept anyone without probate/trust litigation experience.
