Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Is there a time limit to file a probate case in California?
My father died in Jan. of 2001 & shortly after the funeral my Stepmother ceased all contact with our side of the family. She told us there was NO WILL and NOTHING was left to my sister or I. His estate (rough estimate) was worth well over $600,000 in liquid and business assets at the time. In our grief and disbelief we didn't dispute her claims at the time.
Is it too late to file a probate case? What are the statute of limitations for such actions and what type of lawyer would I need to contact?
Any help would be appreciated even if it's too late to file!
